Take Me Back - from the forthcoming ep 'snacks'
lyrics
Stop calling and knocking down my door
You come crawling and begging like a whore
I threw your love notes in a fire
I don't need letters from a liar saying
"Take me Back, there's nothing I can't change
Take me Back, I'll never hurt you again."
Do you think of me while you're tearing us apart?
(I think of you, I think of you)
Could you leave me a sliver of my heart?
(Just a little piece so I could find some peace it isn't hard)
I threw your love notes in a fire
I don't need letters from a liar saying
"Take me Back, there's nothing I can't change
Take me Back, I'll never hurt you again
Take me Back, there's nothing I can't change
Take me Back, I'll never hurt you again."
I don't care if you care about what I'm sayin'
I'm better than a sorry, maybe, I don't know yet
I don't want you if you don't think I'm a treasure
If you think I'll wait you'll be waiting forever
I don't care if you can't tell that I'm not playin'
It's me, myself and I and I am not complaining
I don't want you 'cause you don't think I'm a treasure
If you think I'll stay then you're not very clever
I threw your love notes in a fire
I don't need letters from a liar saying
"Take me Back, there's nothing I can't change
Take me Back, I'll never hurt you again."

So I can't leave a long enough review to say everything I want. But I will say this, I love this EP. It's a great little follow up to times, and has just enough of a dynamic shift in sound to prove that Smoulder isn't a one trick pony with their first album's formula. This one really plays up the 70s prog aspects (DUST and Manilla Road influences definitely shine through even harder here). It's still Smoulder, don't get me wrong. Just a different side in some ways, all of which are good. playfulpooka
Quite a departure from the wild territories they ventured into with their major label releases. So far, the greatest thrash metal I've heard released in the 2020's. Plus, it's not everyday you hear Rhea Perlman on a metal record. t0cktock
If Elric had a soundtrack it would be this. It's everything you want from a epic metal album. Like a hot poker in the eye, but in a good way. Scott Malthouse
Situationist coldwave from France that is deliciously icy, high-drama vampire vocals colliding with icy synth & guitar. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 7, 2021
